Last week I took a short trip up to stay with Adam and his mom, Sue at their family cottage on Lake Michigan. The cottage is in a cottage association founded ~100 years ago on the Western edge of Michigan, near the town of Whitehall.
I was there from Saturday-Wednesday, and it was a very relaxing vacation. Most mornings we sat on the porch and read and had breakfast and watched the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder. In the afternoons, we went for walks in the woods at local places - Duck Lake State Park, Flower Creek Dunes Nature Preserve, Clear Springs Nature Preserve. We spent some time in the towns of Whitehall an Montague- we visited the Book Nook, a wonderful book store; had lunch at Peckadill's, in their amazing backyard garden, went to Fetch brewing, visited an historic lighthouse and found a letterbox at an old one-room schoolhouse. We did a jigsaw puzzle, crossword puzzles, read our books, and took naps. The weather was perfect, not too hot and humid yet. It was a lovely little vacation.
